Read the article if you don’t yet know how to clear the cache in Google Chrome
Why caching is needed
In general terms, a cache is a special area on a disk or operating system that temporarily stores information and data accessed by a user. In simple terms, this is the short-term memory of the device. The browser cache allows you to quickly access information (pages on a website or social networks, photos, videos, etc.) that the user has recently viewed. The fact is that the browser does not seek information directly from the server on which the data is stored, but takes information directly from its memory. Do not confuse the cache with your browsing history and cookies. In history you can see a list of all sites visited during a particular period. Cookies store small pieces of data (for example, passwords or email) and automatically fill them in at the right time. The cache stores technical information about the site pages (pictures, scripts, etc.). However, sometimes the cache is more of a hindrance than a help. If too much information accumulates in the buffer, pages begin to load more slowly. In addition, the information from the cache may no longer be current. For example, you wanted to go to some Internet resource, but encountered an error. The browser will remember the page in its current form and will also display an error when you log in again, even if the resource has already been restored. For these reasons, your browser's temporary memory needs to be cleaned regularly.
How to clear Google Chrome browser cache
If you have Google Chrome, you can clear your cache in one of four ways. The first two methods describe how to clear the chrome cache manually. The third and fourth methods allow you to clear the Google Chrome browser cache through extensions on your computer.
Method 1: Using hotkeys
This is the easiest and fastest way. To use it, you just need to remember a simple combination of keys on your keyboard.
In your browser, type the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete. After this, the “Clear history” page will automatically open in the settings.
Check the “Images and other files saved in cache” checkbox. Then select the desired time range from the drop-down list:
Click Delete data:
Ready.
Method 2. Through the browser
This method is longer than the first, but it does not require memorizing the key combination on the keyboard.
In your browser, click on the button with three dots. Then click Settings:
Scroll to the Privacy and Security section and click Clear the history:
Check the “Images and other files saved in cache” checkbox. Then select the desired time range from the drop-down list:
Click Delete data:
Ready.
Method 3: Using browser extensions
To clear memory, you can also use special browser extensions. For example, OneCleaner, Clean Guru or Clean Master. They work in the same way as desktop utilities, but are built into the browser. To clear the cache using an extension:
Install one of the extensions, for example, Clean Master.
Open the extension in your browser and go to change the time period.
Select the desired period:
Click Cleaning:
Ready.
Method 4. Through programs
Another method is free computer programs that clean temporary memory. Most Popular: Clean Master, CCleaner - for Windows, BleachBit, Stacer - for Linux, App Store And CCleaner - for macOS. These programs are mainly aimed at scanning your computer for viruses and cleaning the operating system from various “garbage” - logs, temporary files, and more. They also check how much space on the system they take up and how such files affect the performance of the operating system. If you regularly clean website files on your computer, you can install one of the programs - they will help clear the cache at the same time.
Install one of the extensions, for example, CCleaner.
Open the program and select “Standard cleaning” in the menu on the left
In the “Google Chrome” block, check the boxes next to the desired parameters and click Cleaning:
Ready. Now you know how to clear the cache in Chrome and you can choose the method that suits you best.
